Module 1: Lesson 6

Getting the Kids to Buy In

Educating our kids about how to approach the kitchen is one of the most important things we can do as parents… and usually, we find that something in ourselves changes for the better, too.

Our kids are growing up surrounded by endless food options—80 different types of cereal on the grocery store shelves, massive restaurant portions, and fully stocked pantries at home. If we don’t step up and teach them, they’re going to think food magically appears, in endless supply. And that mindset? It leads to wasteful habits before they even realize it.

But here's the good news: you can change this. By involving your kids in conversations about food waste and modeling mindful habits in the kitchen, you're setting them up for success.

You’re here because you care about climate change, and you want to make a difference—not just for yourself, but for your family. And I get it, it’s tough to bring up with kids. It can feel overwhelming, even for us adults. But ignoring it? That’s not an option if you want to make a real impact.
