Module 1: Lesson 11
Upcycling & Creating a No-Waste Kitchen
Upcycling is one of our favorite topics to cover in this course because it's truly a test of our own creativity. There's literally no limit to the things we can come up with to reuse and reduce... meaning that there's also no limit to the money we can save.
Food upcycling is something to get excited about because it’s an empowering way to make a real difference! Imagine taking food scraps or leftovers that would usually be tossed and turning them into delicious, creative dishes—it’s like discovering hidden value in your kitchen. Not only are you reducing waste, but you’re also saving money and getting the most out of the food you buy. Plus, upcycling is an opportunity to be inventive, try new recipes, and involve your whole family in fun cooking projects.
And it’s not just in our homes—companies are now joining the movement too. The Upcycled Food Association is leading the way in transforming surplus food into new, innovative products. Think granola made from spent brewing grains, chips from vegetable pulp, or flour made from discarded fruits and vegetables. Upcycled food products, such as ReGrained SuperGrain+ bars or Renewal Mill baking mixes, are showing that upcycling is the future of food production. It's a trend that’s kind to the planet and helps you feel great about the positive impact you're making.
I'll give you a tip (warning? 😅) that this is really a topic you can fall into a Pinterest/Google wormhole over. Share your best finds, hacks, and new creations with us over in the Facebook group. We'd LOVE to see what you do!
